Volunteers @ Work
‘Together We Can Do So Much’
The Coastal Cares Program is an initiative that demonstrates the University's commitment to volunteer outreach by connecting its employees to local agencies in need of service. Through these efforts we can make a difference by helping those in need while in return generating appreciation of giving back among our faculty and staff.
Past Volunteer Opportunites:
All 4 Paws
All 4 Paws is a dog and cat rescue organization that addresses the physical and emotional needs of abandoned animals through an evolving holistic approach. As a compassionate no-kill rescue organization, that strives to save and place as many homeless, abandoned, and abused animals as possible while being a responsible community resource. Our V@W were able to spend time walking the dogs, playing with the pups, caring for the cats, and bathing the any animals that have been saved by this organization.
March for Babies
'March for Babies' is a program that raises funds for organizations in the comunity that help mothers have healthy, full-term pregnancies, and fund research to find answers to serious problems that threaten our babies. Our group of volunteers took the time to go and help set up for one of their fund raiser walks by setting up banners, water stands, and getting ready the registration tables and putting together goodie bags for the event.
Boys & Girls Club
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. The Boys & Girls Clubs offer services that promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. The devoted team of volunteers with V@W spent a day at the Myrtle Beach camp on “Event Day: Animal Tracks,” where kids learned all about the fun lives of animals! We were able to spend the day with the wonderful boys and girls as we helped them through a scavenger hunt.
This community kitchen offers hot meals every night to those who are facing hardships in our community. It provides a safe place for these families to take a break from life and enjoy a great meal! Our V@W team was able to prepare a delicious spaghetti dinner complete with hot garlic toast, soup, fresh salad and dessert. After the meal was served we were able to mingle with group and clean up for the next day.
To learn and experience what service in our community is all about through action
…all while making a difference!
Pre-registration is required.
