The Transportation Services Department supervised by Gary Mancz provides preventative maintenance and repairs on all state fleet vehicles and small equipment repairs for the campus community.
Patricia (Trixie) Harrington, Transportation Coordinator maintains the state fleet database and reservations of these vehicles along with vehicle rentals through Enterprise Rent-a-Car.
Coastal has a minimal number of 12 passenger vans in the motor pool for short-distance travel and short-term use only. Motor pool vehicles are assigned on a first come, first serve basis with additional reservation requests being filled with Enterprise vehicles. If a CCU motor pool vehicle is not available, and you do not want an Enterprise vehicle, you must write this on the reservations, otherwise, it will be filled by Enterprise.
It is important to reserve vehicles as soon as the need arises. This is accomplished by completing a “Vehicle Reservation Request” form. Vehicles are issued only when a properly completed form has been received. Therefore, it is our recommendation that the request be hand-delivered to Transportation Services if there is insufficient time for delivery by campus mail. No facsimile.
All Enterprise drivers must be 21 years of age and have a driving record on file at the Transportation Services Department.
Only the drivers listed on the Enterprise contract or the motor pool reservation form, prior to pick-up of the vehicle, are eligible to drive. Additional drivers, can be added before the vehicle leaves the motor pool area if needed.
As of November 1, 2012 - 12 Passenger Vans rented on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be 2 day minimum rental.
Map Quest can help you determine the most cost efficient way of travel. Enterprise has a daily rate with unlimited mileage. (Mapquest)
It is possible to obtain a South Carolina driving record through scdmvonline.
