OF ADMISSION
READMIT STUDENTS
To be considered for admission, undergraduate students who are returning to the University after missing a major term (fall or spring semester) must submit the Readmission/Non-Degree Application and nonrefundable $15 application fee and provide official transcripts for all institutions attended after leaving Coastal Carolina University. Summer sessions do not count as major semesters. Readmission to the University and to the program in which the student was previously enrolled is not automatic.
Students who are seeking readmission after the first suspension must complete the Readmission/Non-Degree Application and submit it to the Office of Admissions with the $15 nonrefundable application fee. Students who are seeking readmission after the second suspension must seek readmission through the Academic Suspension Petitions Committee. Students who desire to return after a second or indefinite suspension must complete the Academic Suspension Appeal Form and return it to the Office of the Dean for the respective college. Should permission be granted, then the student must complete and submit the Readmission/Non-Degree Application, along with the $15 nonrefundable application fee.
NON-DEGREE ADMISSION CATEGORIES
Applicants who wish to attend the University for one semester or plan to earn up to 18 credit hours may be approved to do so upon submitting the Readmission/Non-Degree Application and nonrefundable $45 application fee. The Office of Admissions reserves the right to determine the proper category of admission. Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions are required. Applications must be approved prior to the first day of the semester. Enrollment will not be permitted after classes are in session. Students in a non-degree classification are not eligible for financial aid.
Non-degree students will be required to complete a new Application for Undergraduate Admission for Readmission/Non-Degree Students and submit the required $45 nonrefundable application fee if they are not continuously enrolled during the fall and spring semesters (excludes summer terms).
- Transient (Visiting) Students are students who wish to take courses at Coastal Carolina University while regularly enrolled in another "home" institution. The student is responsible for securing approval from the academic dean or registrar at the "home" institution to ensure that the courses will transfer back to that institution. Transient students are eligible to apply for on-campus housing during the summer sessions only.
- Adult Learners are applicants who seek to enroll in courses for personal or professional enhancement and who are at least 22 years old. At the completion of 18 credit hours, it is recommended that the student apply for degree-seeking status. Failure to gain degree-seeking status may impact the transferability of courses at a later date.
- Pre-College High School Students may be eligible to begin college studies, on a course availability basis, while concurrently enrolled in high school. Pre-college applicants must provide a high school transcript with a minimum B+ average through the junior year and acceptable PSAT, SAT or ACT scores, along with a letter of recommendation of a high school counselor or principal.
- Senior Citizens (age 60 or older) who are legal residents of South Carolina and who are not employed full-time may be eligible to attend classes on a space available basis without the payment of tuition (excludes required course fees) provided the applicant meets the regular admission requirements and other standards of the University. Senior citizens must complete either the Non-Degree or Degree-Seeking Undergraduate Application, depending on the status of enrollment that is desired. In addition, the Free Tuition Application for Senior Citizens must be completed and submitted to the Office of Admissions. Senior citizens may register for classes under the free tuition provision the day prior to the first day of classes for the current term.
