Internship Options

Students can earn academic credit in their major if they meet department eligibility requirements. Students also have the option to enroll in the non-credited UNIV 395/Internship Experience course as an undergraduate or post-graduate.

The guidelines below outline the process that is followed for internships that are coordinated through Coastal Carolina University Career Services. These guidelines assist students in entering the world of work and developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance classroom study and academic performance.

Academic Credit Option

  1. Student should complete an Internship Application and schedule an appointment to meet with the Career Services Internship Coordinator for resume, cover letter, interviewing skills and internship search assistance if needed
  2. Apply, interview, and secure an internship position
  3. Complete the Learning ContractLearning Goals and Code of Professional Conduct forms with Internship Site Supervisor (employer) and return to Career Services Internship Coordinator
  4. Meet with Faculty Internship Supervisor to review course requirements, request internship site approval and course enrollment
  5. Report to internship work site as scheduled and complete all assignments as required by course syllabus
  6. Review Employer Internship Evaluation‌ with Site Supervisor at mid-semester.
  7. Submit final Employer Internship EvaluationStudent Internship EvaluationInternship Hours Log‌ and all written assignments to Faculty Internship Supervisor at the completion of the internship

University 395/Internship Experience

  • Non-credit course listed on student transcript
  • Offered at no cost to students who meet enrollment requirements
  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA
  • Student must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours
  • Administered through the Career Services Center
  1. Students must complete an Internship Application‌ and return to Career Services Internship Coordinator/instructor
  2. Meet with instructor for resume, cover letter, interview skills, and internship search assistance
  3. Apply, interview, and secure an internship position
  4. Complete the Learning Contract‌, Learning Goals and Code of Professional Conduct with Internship Site Supervisor (employer) and return to instructor
  5. Meet with the instructor to review course requirements, and request internship sponsorship and work site approval
  6. Report to internship site as scheduled
  7. Submit Employer Internship Evaluation, Student Internship Evaluation, and Internship Hours Log (minimum 150 hours) to course instructor at the completion of the internship
