Ecuador Quito & Galapagos, Ecuador
March 14-March 21
2010 Spring Break Study Abroad Opportunity

Students participating in this international travel component will get first hand experience of the culture and economic environment of tourism within Ecuador, which has changed currency to the US dollar, and is both a strong exporter of many products. Ecuador is the home of the Galapagos Islands and segments of the Amazon Jungle basin and monuments to the equator, all of which are major international tourism and eco-tourism attractions. As such, this setting provides a unique laboratory for exploring not only international tourism and global economic integration issues from this country's perspective, but also exposure to the Spanish language, broader Ecuadorean culture, and explicit exposure to the cultural traditions of the indigenous people of Ecuador. All of these elements will contribute to increasing the individual participating student's global awareness.

*Special Note: You must be registered as a student in the ECON 150 Global Issues:Economic Perspectives (ECON 150, Section 2) to participate in this course! Studentswill meet on campus during regularly scheduled classes (MW 3-4:15) prior to and after spending time in Ecuador as a part of this program.
