Therefore, student employees with campus jobs that allow them FTP access to University Web pages as designers and/or editors for departmental pages MUST attend a required orientation session before they are granted FTP access to the web server. The student's supervisor will need to e-mail Donna Rogers , Web Manager, to arrange a one-on-one session. So far, ITS members have assisted 938 users to migrate to the new environment; however, there are still over 350 users who need to be migrated. For the next several weeks, ITS members, specifically the IRCs, will again be contacting staff and faculty to assist them with the migration to the new environment. Your cooperation in the migration is crucial. The Coastal Carolina University e-mail systems handle over 1 million email messages per day. We receive about 800,000 from off campus coming into our systems, of which approximately 90% are blocked for spam or virus content, and an additional 2.5% are tagged as “Spam”. We also deliver over 200,000 messages from campus daily. The next time you visit the site, remember that is has 215 departmental websites consisting of 90,156 pages, 659,839 files, and 316 databases with 12,381 tables.  And if you think those numbers are large, take a look at last year's Web site statistics from Google Analytics: 2008 Website Statistics 5,683,878 Visits* 1,045,876 Absolute Unique Visitors 17,154,509 Pageviews** 3.02 Pages/Visit 00:02:56 Average Time on Site 18.32% New Visits If you are a student or employee of the University, you, more than likely, access the Website by typing in the web address directly, because you know the site’s location and what you are looking to find. Direct access is how 36% of the visitors came to the site in 2008. Another 32% of the visitors found the site through search engines, and 32% clicked on links of referring sites, mainly myCoastal and Blackboard. The program seeks to hire qualified student assistants to shadow and help the IRCs with designated technical tasks such as setting and troubleshooting printer and computer issues.
