A Message from the Chair
The Department Communication, Languages and Cultures at Coastal Carolina University offers minors in French, German, and Spanish. The department also offers beginning courses in Italian and Japanese.
Studying languages is an essential part of a liberal arts education education and an excellent way to secure a good internship or a great position. World languages are increasingly important tools in a wide variety of fields in which communication with non-speakers of English and cultural awareness are essential.
The majority of our courses are taught in the target language. Our Spanish major is designed to give students the opportunity to major in another discipline at the same time, thus building interdisciplinary bridges that will broaden career opportunities. Our department is growing quickly and constantly exploring vibrant intellectual opportunities for our students. We take pride on offering small-sized classes and on the personal approach we favor in teaching.
Our department and Coastal Carolina University offer study abroad programs in Ecuador, France, Germany, Spain and throughout the world.
I encourage you to navigate our website for a more detailed picture of our programs and the productive intellectual life of our department.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
