On April 21, 2010, Coastal Carolina University President David DeCenzo signed the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), joining more than 680 colleges and universities in a pledge to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions.
"By signing this, we are continuing to address a challenging but important task for the future of our campus, our students and our world. We are already doing most of the things required of us - for instance, looking for cost savings in the lights we use, recycling, etc." ~ David DeCenzo, Coastal Carolina University President
The ACUPCC calls for creating a long-term plan, which includes a Climate Action Plan and a Greenhouse Gas Inventory, and reporting annually on progress.
