ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Coastal Carolina University offers baccalaureate degrees in 55 major fields of study; new undergraduate programs include: Biochemistry, the BA in Economics, Graphic Design, Information Systems, the BFA in Theatre Arts, the BFA in Musical Theatre, the BS in Nursing (completion program) and Health Administration (online). Additional specializations have been added to the existing programs of Biology, Finance and Sociology. The University also offers seven master's degree programs in the fields of Business Administration (MBA); Master of Accountancy (MAcc); Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies; Education, including the M.Ed in Educational Leadership, M.Ed. in Learning and Teaching; and the MA in Writing. The University’s growing number of international partnerships make it possible for students to study in places such as Australia, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, Greece, France, Germany, Japan and Spain.

Coastal Carolina University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

THE CAMPUS

The University comprises 72 main buildings on 630 acres including the Coastal Science Center and the Burroughs & Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies, located on the East Campus in the Atlantic Center on U.S. 501, and The General James Hackler Golf Course at Coastal Carolina University, a public 18-hole golf facility located adjacent to the campus. The University also offers courses at the Waccamaw Center for Higher Education in Litchfield and the Myrtle Beach Education Center. Waties Island, 1,062 acres of pristine barrier island on the Atlantic coast, provides a natural laboratory for extensive study in marine science and wetlands biology.

ATHLETICS

NCAA Division I / Big South
  • Women’s intercollegiate teams: basketball, cross country, golf, indoor track and field, soccer, softball, tennis, outdoor track and field, volleyball. Women's lacrosse is slated to begin in fall 2012.
  • Men’s intercollegiate teams: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, outdoor track and field.
  • The mascot/nickname for the University is the Chanticleer, the crafty quick-thinking rooster from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales
