Biography

Biography

Prior to coming to Coastal Carolina, Dr. Hileman taught at Longwood University, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Tennessee-Southern, where he specialized in Modern European, Non-Western, Diplomatic and Military History. Hileman earned his doctorate under the late Dr. Owen Connelly, the author of ten published manuscripts, and a specialist in the French Revolution and Napoleonic Era, and Military History.

Interesting Facts

While in graduate school at USC, Dr. Hileman was chosen to work on the private papers of General William Westmoreland, American commander in Vietnam, 1964-1968, that were acquired by the Caroliniana Library.
