Academic and Professional Experience

Sherer Royce is an associate professor of public health at Coastal Carolina University. She holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of South Carolina, and earned a Master of Public Health and a Ph.D. in public health from the University of South Carolina in 1996 and 200,4 respectively. Royce’s research interests and expertise are focused on chronic disease prevention with emphasis on risk factor reduction (primarily tobacco use) via environmental, systems, and policy changes. She is a member of Delta Omega, the national public health honorary and Eta Sigma Gamma, the national health promotion honor society. Prior to pursuing a career in public health and academics, Royce worked in public relations and public affairs in Washington D.C.; most notable was her tenure in the White House.
