CCU trustees approve negotiations for performing arts center in Myrtle Beach superblock property

At a special teleconference meeting of Coastal Carolina University’s board of trustees held Nov. 15, the board approved a motion to authorize CCU President David A. DeCenzo to enter into negotiations with the Myrtle Beach City Council regarding the establishment of a proposed performing arts center located in the section of downtown Myrtle Beach known as the superblock.

The partnership will allow CCU to move academic theater operations formerly offered at its 79th Avenue facility to the center of Myrtle Beach.

The motion accords with objectives outlined in CCU’s 2016-2021 strategic plan, which directs the institution to “advance and share formal planning models that project future growth targets and allocate appropriate infrastructure to support the mission of the University.”
