Art history prof co-authors book

Stephanie Miller, assistant professor of visual arts at Coastal Carolina University, has co-authored a scholarly book, “The Early Modern Italian Domestic Interior, 1400–1700” with Erin J. Campbell, associate professor of art history at the University of Victoria, Canada, and Elizabeth Carroll Consavari, lecturer in art history at San Jose State University.

The collection of essays offers new perspectives on the home in early modern Italy. Adopting a broad chronological framework and expanding the regional scope beyond Florence and Venice to include domestic interiors from less studied centers such as Urbino, Ferrara and Bologna, this volume’s dual emphasis is on reconstructing the material culture of specific residences, and on analyzing how particular domestic objects reflect, shape and mediate family values and relationships within the home.

Miller’s particular research is evident in the chapter "Parenting in the Palazzo: images and artifacts of children in the Italian Renaissance home." She also co-wrote the introduction and edited the chapters.
