Coastal Athletics report successful Adopt-A-Chant campaign

The Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics and its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently completed its sixth annual Adopt-A-Chant Campaign, which helped provide local children a happy holiday season by donating such items as toys, clothes and shoes to Toys for Tots and students at Pee Dee Elementary.

In all, Coastal Carolina Athletics was able to adopt 30 children and continued to successfully spread holiday cheer to local children.

"Our student-athletes take great pride in this community and are appreciative of the support they receive in return,” said Cari Rosiek, associate athletis director for student-athlete enhancement and senior woman administrator. “While several individuals and sports programs went above and beyond the call for donations, this was truly a team effort."

The 30 children submitted a Christmas “wish list," and Coastal Carolina teams, as well as athletic administration worked to gather toys, shoes and clothes to provide help for those who otherwise could not afford it.

Some of the toys gathered included bicycles, dolls, puzzles, books, games, toy cars and trucks, roller skates, footballs, basketballs, art supplies, and video game systems. The adopted Chants also received athletic apparel from some of their favorite teams, including the Chanticleers and South Carolina Gamecocks.
