Welcome to Biology
The Department of Biology is home to 450 - 500 undergraduate biology majors, 15 tenure-track faculty, 10 lecturers and instructors, and five teaching associates. Undergraduate students in our department earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology. We also offer programs of study that prepare students to continue toward a career in the health professions but do not lead to a degree from Coastal. Our department participates in the Master of Science in Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies and offers courses for graduate students in education.
Students in our department have access to professors with a broad range of expertise, from the molecular scale to the ecosystem. Faculty in the biology department take pride in providing excellent opportunities for learning inside the classroom and out. Our faculty have varied research interests, and we provide opportunities for undergraduates to participate in that research in the field and the laboratory.
