Abraham Adams
Name: Abraham Adams
Hometown: Rock Hill, S.C.
Year in School: Senior
Major: Public Health
From time to time, we interview #CCUfamily students who are able to sit back and not take themselves too seriously. Abraham Adams, a senior public health major from Rock Hill, S.C., is one of those students. When we asked him to describe himself, he didn’t answer with “passionate,” “dedicated” or “focused.” Instead, he responded with goofy.
“All my friends know that once you tell me a joke – and I find it funny – I will not stop laughing, even if it is 20 minutes later,” admits Abraham.
But there is more to Abraham than laugh attacks. He has the talent to plan events, even to sell out venues. As the director of traditional events for the Coastal Activities Board, Abraham brought in a popular internet comedian for the Homecoming Talent Show and filled Wheelwright Auditorium to capacity. He is further involved on campus via his role as a SNAP mentor and his membership in the Nu Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Before he came to Coastal, he would not have been this involved.
“I am more outspoken now,” Abraham says. “In high school I was very quiet and timid. Coastal has opened me up.”
Abraham has plans to attend nursing school, but he is still deciding on a timetable. He is debating whether he wants to jump right in or take a year off after he graduates. Speaking of graduation, Abraham has some advice for current students before he walks across the HTC Center stage in just a couple months. He can’t stress the importance of getting involved on campus. If it worked for a young man like himself who was quiet and withdrawn, it will work for others as well. We hope Abraham continues to savor the remaining time he has on campus.
