Amelia Betzer
Name: Amelia Betzer
Hometown: Ellicott City, Md.
Year in School: Junior
Major: Early Childhood Education
As a life long beach bum, Amelia Betzer has always dreamed of going to a school by the beach. After her campus tour, Amelia knew CCU was the perfect place for her. She fell in love with the friendly atmosphere and the helpful Coastal community. Having grown up in a diverse town, Amelia saw the same diverseness she has always known, and she knew that Coastal was her new home.
You can hear the passion in Amelia’s voice as she describes why she wants to become a teacher. One of her favorite CCU memories was when she traveled to Ecuador. Falling in love with the culture and people, Amelia got the chance to assist teachers and students in the local Ecuadorian schools. After that incredible trip, she now has her sights set on the whole world.
Optimistic by nature, Amelia has an outlook on life that is refreshing. She puts others before herself, evidenced by her activities on campus. As a CHANT411 student worker, she strives to provide accurate information and impeccable customer service to members of the campus community. As a member of Tri Sigma, she makes her sisters a priority, doing what she can to brighten their days.
“I always try to find the positivity in every situation and every person.” Amelia explains.
Through her experiences over the past few years, both abroad and on campus, Amelia has broken out of her shell. She has learned a lot about herself while becoming a person that others look up to.
“CCU has helped me become a leader, take on more responsibility and help me find who I really am,” says Amelia.
With a Venti iced coffee in her hand (most likely not the first of the day), Amelia has big plans after graduation. She would like to teach abroad or become an advocate for students in Baltimore inner-city schools. Always wanting to make a difference, Amelia wants to change the lives of those she teaches.
