Year in School: Junior
Major: Marketing

Now in her second year as a resident adviser, it takes a couple minutes of reflection to remember the time when Lauren Berman wasn’t an involved Coastal student but rather a high school senior looking for her college destination. Before she was managing a floor of freshmen students and making memories as a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma, Lauren was a Greenville teen trying to chart her future. However, uncertainty shifted to clarity the moment she stepped foot on campus.
When Lauren went on her tour it was obvious that CCU was for her, remarking that she “fell in love” with the campus. She quickly seized opportunities to get involved and her passion for being a Chanticleer grew.
“CCU has really become a place I can call home; a place I can be myself,” Lauren says while mentioning that she has grown as an individual.
A person who tries to learn not just from her own experiences but those of others, Lauren has a genuine love for people, remarking that her perfect job will allow her to “interact with a lot of different faces every day.” That “perfect job” will hopefully come in advertising. A junior marketing student with a minor in hospitality, resort, and tourism management, she would like to possibly work for a large hotel chain.
But for now, she is focused on being a student. Lauren wants to succeed in her classes, bring her University Housing community together and thrive in her sorority. As someone who cares deeply for her fellow students, especially the new ones, she has this advice:
“Put yourself out there and get to know as many people as possible. Get involved as much as you can because you only go to college once."
Great advice, Lauren. Thanks for making #TEALnation better!
