October 26, 2005

"The U.N. Under Fire: Reforming the World's Peace-Keeping Body," a public forum on the present and future of the United Nations, will be held Thursday, November 3, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. in University Hall, room 228, at Coastal Carolina University. A simultaneous videoconference of the event will take place at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield, room 102. The discussion is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The wide-ranging program will give special attention to the current United States reform initiative headed by U.N. Ambassador John Bolton.

A panel of Coastal professors and students involved in the Model U.N. Program will lead the discussion. Participating Coastal faculty members include Richard Collin, Pamela Martin and James Henderson, all of the university’s Department of Politics and Geography.

This program is sponsored by Coastal Carolina University, the League of Women Voters of Georgetown County, Pax Christi Grand Strand, Horry Friends Monthly Meeting and the Episcopal Peace Fellowship of Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church.
