CCU THEATER PRESENTS GREEK CLASSIC "MEDEA"
The Greek myth of Medea tells the story of a woman who betrays her homeland and sails away with Jason, bearing him two sons on the journey. When Jason shuns her in favor of a Greek princess, Medea unleashes a torrent of death and destruction that consumes her own children.
“ ‘Medea Construct’ combines the Greek Medea myth with the biblical story of the Garden of Eden,” says Stephen Fawcett, an adjunct professor of dramatic arts at the College of Charleston, and guest director of the production. “This production will explore the role these myths play in the process of human socialization, particularly regarding gender roles and authority. The student actors play their roles in an abstract style similar to dance.”
