CCU bike program to launch Oct. 24
The program will offer 20 cruiser-style bicycles, available for free checkout to University Place residents, for a three-day or five-day rental period.
Bikes are available for checkout at the Activity House from 7 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Students must sign an electronic disclaimer and present an ID before checking a bike out, and they will receive a helmet and lock.
The Coastal Cycles Bicycle Program was created in an effort to provide alternative transportation to students and to promote a healthier campus by reducing pollution caused by automobiles. Sustainability Coordinator Marissa Mitzner hopes to add more bikes to the program with an ultimate goal of having 40 available to students by the end of the fall semester.
