Foreign Film Series explores Iranian marriage and culture
Written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, "A Separation" examines the dissolution of an Iranian middle-class couple's marriage, and the conflicts that arise when the husband hires a caregiver for his elderly father who suffers from Alzheimer's.
The film received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the 2012 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film (a first for an Iranian film), the 2011 Golden Bear for Best Film at the Berlin International Film Festival and the 2012 Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film.
