CCU Education Abroad Scholarships

The Spring 2024 scholarship application cycle is now closed. The next application cycle for scholarships for study abroad programs will open on August 1, 2024, with details of all scholarships and link to application sites provided on this page.  The Fall Application Deadline for CCU scholarships is Monday, November 4, 2024 for all terms. Notification of Scholarship decisions will be sent by Friday, November 15, 2024.

CCU Education Abroad Scholarships

In the Fall 2023 application cycle, scholarships worth more than $90,000 are available to help Coastal Carolina University students study abroad. APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN! Submission Deadline: Monday, October 30, 2023!

The Fall 2023 Cycle Scholarship Application Cycle is OPEN via online application links available next to each scholarship below. Please follow the directions to upload all required information as provided on the link for each scholarship. 

Deadline for submission of completed scholarship applications is Monday, October 30, 2023, and decisions will be communicated to students before Thanksgiving.

For scholarships that require a faculty recommendation, you are encouraged to reach out to request the faculty member's agreement to supply the recommendation and to provide them with information about the scholarship, the education abroad program in which you are looking to participate, and how this program will help you personally, academically and professionally.  ALL required materials and uploads must be completed (including recommendations received if required) by October 30, 2023 for an application to be deemed complete and eligible for consideration for award.

This year, the following scholarships will be available:

Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance Global Experience Scholarship: Available to students majoring in programs in the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance. Scholarships will be awarded of up to $1,000 per student. (Application Link)

Education Abroad Global Exchange Scholarship: Available to students participating in direct exchange semester abroad partnership programs with specific Coastal Carolina University partners. (Application Link - Coming Soon)

Global Citizenship Diversity Abroad Award: Promotes the participation in education abroad by a diverse student body as a part of CCU’s educational mission to enhance global perspective. Each applicant’s qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Consideration may be given to those who demonstrate commitment to increasing opportunities for members of underrepresented groups, breaking down stereotypes, and/or enabling others to better understand persons of different races, ethnicities or other identities. Global Perspectives in the Humanities Study Abroad Scholarship: Available to students who major in programs of study offered through the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Art to participate in any short-term education abroad, long-term education abroad, or international internship program offered through Coastal Carolina University. Minority students are encouraged to apply. Historically underrepresented students (for example: Pell-eligible students; BIPOC students; First generation students; Students of non-dominant gender identities) are encouraged to apply. Graduate International Enrichment Scholarship: Available to degree-seeking graduate students at CCU who are participating in any short-term, long-term, international internship education abroad program or experience (i.e. scholarly conference) offered through Coastal Carolina University that provides substantial international enrichment. Minoritized students are encouraged to apply. (Application Link)

Gupta College of Science Study Abroad Scholarship: Available to students majoring in programs offered through the Gupta College of Science to participate in any CCU-approved education abroad program (short-term faculty-led programs, semester programs, or international internships). Horry County Higher Education Commission International Awareness Award: Available to graduates of accredited high schools in Horry County (both current CCU students and new students who have been admitted to CCU) to participate in any education abroad program offered through Coastal Carolina University. HTC Honors Program Global Engagement Award: Available to students in the Honors Program, this award can be used to participate in CCU-approved short-term (faculty-led), long-term programs, or international internship programs. (Application Link)

Marilyn and David Domke Study Abroad Scholarship: Available to first-generation college students who have applied to short-term or long-term education abroad programs offered through Coastal Carolina University. (Application Link)

Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences Education Abroad Scholarship: Available to students majoring in degree programs offered through the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences to support the participation in any CCU-approved education abroad program. (Application Link)

Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Board of Visitors Study Abroad Annual Scholarship: Available to students major in degree programs offered through the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts to participate in short-term study abroad opportunities led by faculty from the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Wall College of Business Board of Visitors Study Abroad Scholarship: Available to students majoring in degree programs offered through the Wall College of Business to participate in any education abroad program sponsored by or organized through the Wall College of Business. (Application Link)

Wall College of Business Global Leadership Development Study Abroad Scholarship: Available to students who are participating in an eligible Wall College of Business leadership development program for them to study on a short-term study abroad program that includes leadership development activities.
