Remote/Flex Work Guidelines

Remote/Flex Work Program

Beginning September 2023, Coastal Carolina University (CCU) is implementing a remote work and flexible schedule program for eligible full-time staff as outlined in the updated Telecommuting (Remote Work) and Flexible Scheduling Options Policy (FAST-248) that was approved by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR) and the Board of Trustees. Please note: DSHR refers to remote work as telecommuting in the state regulations.

There are 3 different remote work/flexible schedule options to consider: remote work only, flexible schedule only, or hybrid arrangement of both. Below you find a definition of each option, eligibility requirements, and information on how to apply to the program.

There are 3 options offered as part of the remote/flex work program.

Remote Work Exclusions

While the University has established a broad remote work/flex work program for classified staff and unclassified administrators, not all positions are suitable for remote work based on the nature of the job duties performed and/or the nature of departmental operations. Please review the remote work exclusions to see if your position is suitable for remote work.

Remote/Flex Work Mandatory Training

All employees and their supervisors MUST complete the remote/flex work mandatory training PRIOR to applying to the program.
