About Rod Gragg

The director of the United Bank Center for Military and Veteran Studies at Coastal Carolina University is Rod Gragg, a military historian and the author of Rod O. Gragg, director of United Bank Center for Military and Veterans Studies at CCU, imagemore than 20 books on historical topics.

Among his works are From Foxholes and Flight Decks: Letters Home from World War II, Lessons in Leadership from the Greatest Generation, My Brother’s Keeper: Christians Who Risked All to Protect Jewish Targets of the Nazi Holocaust, Time-Life’s The Civil War in 500 Photographs,  and Confederate Goliath: The Battle of Fort Fisher, which earned the Fletcher Pratt Award from the New York City Civil War Round Table.

Gragg is a former scholarship recipient of the U.S. Army Military History Institute, has served as an adjunct professor of history and ROTC history instructor at Coastal Carolina University, and is the host and producer of “Military Memoirs,” a regional television program featuring oral history interviews with American veterans.
