CCU board of trustees announces tuition rates will not increase for the 2024-25 academic year

Board of Trustees | June 6, 2024

During its special meeting today, the Coastal Carolina University board of trustees announced that tuition for both in-state and out-of-state students will not increase for the 2024-25 academic year. This marks the sixth consecutive year tuition for in-state students has not increased. The overall average increase for the housing and meal plan rates is 3.8% and 6.5%, respectively. The rate increase varies depending on the type of plans selected.

“The trustees and I are extremely pleased that tuition at Coastal Carolina University is not increasing for the upcoming academic year,” said CCU President Michael T. Benson. “This decision speaks to our commitment to keep higher education affordable for the residents of South Carolina and beyond. We look forward to welcoming our returning and new students in mid-August for what is expected to be another great year to learn, live, and explore at the University.”

The board also approved leasing the University’s Student Health Services (SHS) building to Conway Medical Center (CMC) for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2024, contingent upon S.C. Department of Administration approval. The University and CMC have entered a Memorandum of Understanding by which CMC intends to operate an on-campus student, faculty, and staff health center in the planned building that will house the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance. Until that facility is built, CMC will operate a temporary clinic space in the SHS building. The lease is renewable for four additional one-year terms.

In other action, the board approved a $350,000 discretionary fund for the President’s Office for the 2024-25 academic year, allowing President Michael Benson to pursue opportunities to support various activities and raise funds for the University.

The board’s next scheduled meetings are Aug. 15-16, 2024.
