Tully and Hull perform as flute and guitar duo at CCU

Coastal Carolina University music professors Amy Hardison Tully and Daniel Hull will present a program of music for flute and guitar duo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

The program will feature eclectic works from the flute and guitar repertoire including "Libertango" by Astor Piazzolla, "Suite Buenos Aires" by Maximo Diego Pujol, "Toward the Sea" by Toru Takemitsu, "Blue Hues" for Two by Brian DuFord and "Mouvements Perpetuels" by Francis Poulenc. Patti Edwards, CCU associate professor of music, will also perform select movements from the Ten Blake Songs by Ralph Vaughn Williams for soprano and flute.

Tully is an assistant professor of music, and she conducts the CCU's Flute Choir. She earned a bachelor's degree in flute performance from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, a master's degree in musicology from Northwestern University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in flute performance from the University of South Carolina. She is principal flutist with the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach and second flutist and piccoloist with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra. Tully was the winner of the 2007 Newly Published Music Contest sponsored by the National Flute Association.

Hull is a teaching associate of music and director of the University's guitar ensembles. He earned a bachelor's degree in guitar performance from Illinois State University and a master's degree and D.M.A. in guitar performance from the Eastern School of Music. He is an active soloist, ensemble musician and teacher. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.

General admission is $5. Tickets are $3 for CCU and Horry-Georgetown Technical College students (one ticket per valid ID) and faculty and staff (two per valid ID). Free for children 10 and under.

The Edwards Theatre is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts building at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway.
