Externally-funded Research Opportunities

Visit the OSPRS Pre-Award pages for assistance with identifying external grant funding opportunities and with writing and submitting grant proposals. 

All grant applications from CCU faculty, staff, or students must be submitted through OSPRS.  Complete proposal and budget drafts are due to OSPRS 5 business days before the application deadline, and initial notification of  intent to submit a proposal should ideally occur at least 4 weeks prior to the deadline.

CCU faculty applications coordinated through the CCU Center for Global Engagement:  Over 800 grants in more than 125 countries are available to conduct research, teach, or provide specialist consultative services to institutions abroad.

Internally-funded (CCU) Research Opportunities 

2 application deadlines each year:  in September for the following fall and in February for the following spring. (view recent recipients)

Awards up to $6000 for research enhancement grants.  The application process is now merged with the Faculty Summer Research Awards below.  Faculty have the option to apply for either award individually or for both awards together.  January application.  (view recent recipients)

Provides $5250 in summer salary for faculty members to pursue scholarly research or creative works in the summer.  The award is seed funding for a required external grant proposal in the coming year.  The application process is now merged with the Professional Enhancement Grants above.  Faculty have the option to apply for either award individually or for both awards together.  January application.  (view recent recipients)

Awards up to $5000 for research focused on a major sustainability challenge.  Spring application.

Funding (unspecified amount) for various projects, including research, that will benefit long-range plans resulting in the enhancement of the University and the benefit of Horry County citizens.  Spring application.

  • QEP-Aligned Curricular or Co-Curricular Initiatives

Faculty and/or academic units can apply funding for initiatives in support of the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP),  Belong@Coastal: Building Student Achievement Through Inclusive Engagement.  Information on the QEP's Inclusive Excellence Grants can be found here: www.coastal.edu/qep.

  • Conference Presentation Travel

Each college awards funding to faculty for travel to present/exhibit/perform at conferences or other professional events.  Consult your chair or dean for details.
