Tuition Refunds
Drop/Add
Coastal Carolina University credits all or a portion of tuition charges for adjustments to a student's class schedule made after the start of classes depending on certain criteria. If the schedule change reduces a student's credit hours below full-time to part-time levels, or the credit hours are reduced from above 18 hours to below 18 hours, a credit may be appropriate. All schedule change credits are computed after consideration of financial aid already applied or pending for the student. (See Financial Aid eligibility and policy regarding changes from full-time to part-time status). The schedule change must be completed within prescribed time frames of the start of classes based on the following schedule:

Fall 2020
- Days 1-22: 100 percent refund *(Last day: Sept. 9, 2020)
- Days 23-29: 90 percent refund *(Last day: Sept. 16, 2020)
- After Day 29: No refund *(After Sept. 16, 2020)
*Refund date updated.
Spring 2021
- Days 1-9: 100 percent refund (Last day: Jan. 27, 2021)
- Days 10-16: 90 percent refund (Last day: Feb. 3, 2021)
- After Day 16: No refund (After Feb. 3, 2021)
Short Semesters (Fall I, Fall II, Spring I, Spring II)
- Days 1-5: 100 percent
- Days 6-9: 90 percent
- After Day 9: No refund
Short Semesters (Maymester, Summer I, Summer II)
- Days 1-4: 100 percent
- Days 5-8: 90 percent
- After Day 8: No refund
Short-term Classes (meet only once/week) Tuition credits computed based on time frames from class start date.
- Days 1-8: 100 percent
- Days 9-10: 90 percent
- After Day 10: No refund
Withdrawals - Voluntary
The Coastal Carolina University credits all or a portion of tuition charges for students who voluntarily withdraw in conformance with the University Withdrawal policies and procedures (see Registrar website Student Instructions for Withdrawing from College). All credits are computed after consideration of financial aid already applied or pending for the student (see Financial Aid website What to Know Before Withdrawing for eligibility and policy regarding withdrawals). Tuition credits are computed based on time frames from class start date as follows:

- Last day of 100 percent: *Sept. 9, 2020
- Last day of 90 percent: *Sept. 16, 2020
- Last day of 50 percent: *Sept. 23, 2020
- Last day of 25 percent: *Oct. 8, 2020

Spring 2021
- Last day of 100 percent: Jan. 27, 2021
- Last day of 90 percent: Feb. 3, 2021
- Last day of 50 percent: Feb. 17, 2021
- Last day of 25 percent: March 10, 2021
Short Semesters (Fall I, Fall II, Spring I, Spring II)
- Days 1-5: 100 percent
- Days 6-9: 90 percent
- After Day 9: No refund

Please note: A student will not be issued a refund for dropping a Spring II or Fall II class if the class was added in exchange for a regular term class in which the regular term refund periods had expired.
Withdrawals - Involuntary
Housing Cancellations
The $50 application fee and $100 advanced housing payment are both nonrefundable.
Meal Plan Cancellations
A full residential meal plan is required for all first- and second-year students living University-operated housing during fall and spring semesters. Residential meal plans may be changed during the first two weeks of the semester. If a student withdraws, they will be charged a prorated amount based on the assigned plan (either number of days from the start of the semester to the date of cancellation or number of meal swipes used) plus any used dining dollars (if applicable).
Small block meal plans may not be changed or canceled after activation. If a student withdrawals from the University, they will be charged on a prorated basis according to the number of meal swipes used plus any used dining dollars (if applicable).
Unused meal plan balances or dining dollars are not transferable to another student, faculty or staff member. All meal plans expire at the end of each semester.
