At Coastal, we place a strong focus on faculty-student interaction. Our faculty are experts renowned in their fields, but they are also dedicated teachers. Students go beyond classroom learning and make real contributions through scholarly and research endeavors. Many faculty members from all University colleges and majors provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in a variety of research projects.
Faculty at CCU have been awarded research funding and grants from the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium, Office of Naval Research, National Science Foundation, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. CCU faculty maintain many research centers including the Environmental Quality Laboratory, Burroughs + Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies, Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development, and Dyer Institute for Leadership and Public Policy.

Coastal Carolina University has been named as a College of Distinction for a strong focus on teaching undergraduates; a commitment to providing innovative learning experiences; and for its reputation among graduate schools and employers for producing highly qualified and prepared students.
CCU holds numerous national and international accreditations and has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report in the top two for "Best Value", and in the top 100 for "Best Regional" among Southern, public universities. The Wall College of Business is AACSB-accredited, an achievement by less than 5 percent of business schools.
